17th Media Diamond for ‘Sport Producer’ Wendy Hendrickx.
Sport Producer Wendy Hendrickx receives a Media Diamond, the prestigious career achievement award and recognition for behind-the-scenes professionals in Television, Radio, and Other Media who excel in their profession showcasing talent, dedication, passion, and craftsmanship. Wendy, currently working as the Head of Live Production at Formula 1, was surprised with the news at the Media Park by TV Director Rolf Meter, Emiel Gobes from Southfields, and Jos Budie, the chairman of the Media Diamond Foundation.
Pleasantly amazed, Wendy received a letter from the Mayor of Hilversum Gerhard Van den Top, which was delivered by Jos, conveying the message that she deserves this prestigious industry award. Following that, Rolf, Emiel, and Jos shared some commendable words about her. Wendy's Media Diamond will be unveiled later this year on the Diamond Wall at the Media Park in Hilversum.
Wendy Hendrickx was born and raised in Flanders, but her television career unfolded mainly in the Netherlands. She began her television journey at FilmNet/SuperSport, subsequently working at Canal+, WK Producties, Eyeworks Sport, Infostrada Sport, and Southfields. In these roles, she produced various sports and major sporting events both domestically and internationally, including being responsible for Formula 1 programs for Ziggo Sport until the end of 2019.
The Media Diamond jury is unanimous in its choice: "Wendy has excelled for decades with tireless dedication, outstanding craftsmanship, radiant passion, and clearly demonstrable talent. Her extraordinary career in TV broadcasting has elevated Wendy to the pinnacle of Sports Television: Formula 1, currently one of the most innovative, prominent, and challenging Sports Broadcasters in the world. All of this in perfect harmony with her clients and her own team.
Within the Formula 1 organisation, Wendy, as Head of Live Production, oversees the daily management of the production team that is responsible for all live broadcasts of Formula 1 and its support series F2/F3/Porsche Supercup/F1 Academy. Wendy also leads the creative teams working on live programs for F1TV and Track TV and has introduced a brand-new studio with Virtual/Augmented Reality functionalities at Formula 1. Throughout a race weekend, Wendy, in her role as Broadcast & Media Manager, manages the Remote Production in Biggin Hill where a dynamic team of approximately 140 professionals, skilled in various broadcast and technical disciplines, collaborate seamlessly. On-site, Wendy effortlessly returns to TV directing, skilfully switching up to 11 cameras to capture every press moment, pre-race activations, grid build-up, National Anthems, flyovers, and post-race Parc fermé and podium ceremonies.
All of this entitles Wendy to be rewarded with an enduring presence at the Media Park in Hilversum.
